UFC 243: NZ fighters raring to fight, inspired by marae visit

Two of UFC’s biggest stars
are less than two weeks away from meeting in the ring. Israel Adesanya is set to take on Ngapuhi’s Australian-based fighter
Robert Whittaker for the UFC middleweight title. As Te Rina Kowhai reports, NZ has the biggest contingent
of fighters headed to the UFC event and among them is a large crop
of Maori fighters. The formidable four. Set to make history at UFC 243. And 5 of the 6 NZ UFC fighters
are homegrown in this City Kickboxing gym. On the main card Israel
“The Last Stylebender” Adesanya, who’s gunning for
the UFC middleweight title. Yet it’s the family values at the
gym that’s been the success so far. And this Ngati Maniapoto-based
fighter has been welcomed aboard. Eugene Bareman says the training formula
has stayed the same yet last week they got inspiration from visiting
Ngati Whatua ki Orakei Marae. No doubt they will level up again
just before the event of the year. Te Rina Kowhai, Te Karere.
