Taekwondo Martial Arts Basics : Taekwondo Lung Punch
Hello! My name is Sid Nelson, master instructor
in Martial Arts. I’m representing expertvillage.com. The first punch I’ll be demonstrating is called
a lunge punch. With a lunge punch, you’ll be stepping while you’re punching. Keep in
mind, you want to pull the other arm back to the belt. When we step, we want to keep
in mind that there’s going to be some timing between our foot and our punch. When we step,
we want to wait until our step is right ready to touch and make contact with the floor before
we throw the punch. So when I take the step I want to wait until the step is just ready
to touch and then pull the arms in a straight line. If I go backwards, same thing applies.
Keep the arms close to the ribs. As you step back, wait with the arms until the foot is
ready to make contact with the floor and then punch. Again, the yell helps tighten up the muscles
when it makes impact on the target. It helps build energy and adrenalin in the class. Showing
energy is a way to stay confident in self-defense.
