NFRS Boxing Academy

Hello my name’s Tony Scott. I’m the Assistant
Head Coach at Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service Boxing Academy. The club is open to
all ages from 8 years and over both male and females. We run on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday
evening from 6.30pm till 8pm and also on a Tuesday evening for competitive boxers only. My name’s Tim Hill I’m the Lead Coach at Northumberland Fire and Rescue Boxing Academy. The club has
been running about six and a half years and was initially set up by the Chief Fire Officer
Paul Hedley to try and engage the local community, get the kids off the streets, give them something
to do, give them some discipline and involve them in the sport of boxing. This is David
Redhead and he’s been coming to the club for about 3 years. When David first started coming
he was quite a bit overweight and he stuck in, trained really hard and this is the result
now. So he’s a good example of what you can achieve if you put the hard work in. Some
of the things I get out of coming to this club is of course general fitness, I really
enjoy the sport. At first I had no interest in it I just came and did it just to lose
some weight and then I started loving the sport and obviously made friends here. Hi I’m Jenny, I’m 42, I’m a firefighter for Northumberland Fire
and Rescue. I’ve come along tonight and it’s my first night. I’ve come along with my son
to get fit and learn how to box. It’s great for all ages, all genders, females, males
and a great way to get fit, get lean hopefully. If you want to keep fit, if you want to compete,
then the club is open to you. We are ABA affiliated, all the coaches are qualified and we try our
best to facilitate anybody who wants to box. So if you want to know more about Northumberland
