Neo vs Morpheus | The Matrix [IMAX]

How is he? 10 hours straight. He’s a machine. I know Kung Fu. Show me. This is a sparring program, similar to the programmed reality of the matrix. It has the same basic rules, rules like gravity. What you must learn is that these rules are no different than the rules of a computer system. Some of them can be bent. Others can be broken Understand? Then hit me. If you can. Good. Adaptation, improvisation. But your weakness is not your technique. Morpheus is fighting Neo. How did I beat you? You’re too fast. Do you believe that my being stronger or faster has anything to do with my muscles in this place? You think that’s air you’re breathing now? Again. Jesus Christ, he’s fast. Take a look at his neural kinetics, they’re way above normal. What are you waiting for? You’re faster than this Don’t think you, know you are. Come on. Stop trying to hit me and HIT me I don’t believe it.

  1. The worst parts of these movies are when they get Looney Tunes. It’s disappointing because I thought it robs you of the serious… ah, these movies are bs. Kung fu crew cut computer Jesus is not as impressive as actual Jesus.

  2. I know this might not be the first thought that everyone thinks watching this scene but one of my main thoughts watching this is that I would love to have a teacher like Morpheus, was nice, informative and pushes you.

  3. Keanu Reeves – 09/04/64 – age: 34
    Thomas A. Anderson/Neo
    6' 1" (1.86 m)

    Laurence Fishburne – 07/30/61 – age: 37
    6' 0½" (1.84 m)

  6. "Rules like gravity". No scientific proof of that…but it's cool, it's the matrix after all.

  7. Thanks for adding this 20 year old film clip to the internet, no one; anywhere has ever been able to find it!

  8. While Neo was focusing in bending the laws of physics to his advantage, Morpheus was focusing in simple moves that wasted a minimum of energy.

  9. Morpheus “How is he?”
    Tank “10 hours straight, he’s a machine.”
    Morpheus “A machine?!?!”
Morpheus pulls out a gun and shoots Neo in the face.
Tank “Oh my god, he killed Neo!”
    Trinity “You bastard!”

  10. I love how everytime you watch this fight, it gives you more.

For example, Neo’s brain has just been pumped with a lifetime worth of training of dozens different martial arts. Techniques, attacks, forms of defense, etc. And it shows. You can see how eager he is to test it all out, to see what he can now do. We have to remember, to him it feels as real as in the real world. He feels the tension, sweat, pain, all of it. Its like playing a videogame, and using a cheatcode to get access to all of the items and power ups. You’re so eager to use it all and see how it all works. Neo is so pumped right now that he wants nothing more than to test everything he has. He even ignores what Morphious is saying: ”your weakness is not your technique.” And just pressess on the assault. However he’s ignoring what Morphious meant: in the matrix your understanding of martial arts/your physical power doesn’t matter. You have to understand it deeper: the matrix is nothing more than a line of code being fed to your brain. Neo has to learn to bend, and break that code. You can see it takes him a while to catch onto that, and when he does, he easily beats Morphius to the punch.

  11. And to think that this fight scene won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight, beating the lightsaber duel from Star Wars-Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.
