Kung Fu Techniques : Kung Fu Sitting Stance

Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese
Martial Arts Center and today we’re going to be showing you the Sitting Stance. Okay,
the Sitting Stance, you want to start feet together, you want to crossover with your
right leg, sit straight down on the floor, you want to perform this fast, okay, with
your knee over the other knee. Okay, and you want to keep your feet tucked in, you want
to be on the sides of your feet, okay. Okay, so you want to keep your chest erect, your
head up, okay, you want to have the feet kept close to the body and you want to keep the
knee over the knee. Okay, now getting up from the Sitting Stance, you want to push straight
up, you don’t want to have to use your hands to build your leg strength. Okay, some common
applications for this are building your legs for kicks. Okay, if somebody punches in, okay,
you can block and you can kick straight over if you notice the crossing action, the scissoring
action. Or if he punches with the rear hand, same thing, you can block, step straight through
this way, or also, if he punches, okay, you can kick straight it and then step behind
and hit with your own knee, straight down. That is the proper way to perform a Sitting
Stance.
