How to Do an Aerial : Martial Arts Tips on Aerials


So, we’ve basically gone over the Aerial today.
Some important reminders are basically to be safe. Make sure you have enough space.
Keep your body loose. Wear loose fitting clothing, so that you’re able to be flexible and kick
over to do the Aerial. And, we’ve also noted the difference between a Cartwheel and an
Aerial. Now, I’m going to do one more demonstration for you today. We step back. We want to go
over all the main tips. Make sure again, that your joints are loose and you’re ready to
do this. You do the setup, the run, use your arms, kick up and let that momentum bring
you over as you spin on your center axis. So, I’m just going to do one from standing
like so. Keep your chest up, look upwards. Do not think of going down like the Cartwheel.
And, then play around with various variations doing Aerial Twists, Aerial into Splits, Aerial
combinations. A lot of fun things you can do with it. And, it’s also exciting to always
see on films if you’re doing a Martial Arts sequence or various other techniques. And,
that concludes how to do an Aerial for today.

  3. These moves suck. By the way I saw another once of your videos and it said how to do a butterfly kick who would want to now that. Do something else that people can at least understand, cause you don't even tell us how to do the moves.

  6. How on earth does anyone even think of attempting this, like for the first time ever. What if u fall down? U'll break ur neck or worse. Obviously u wont do it correct the first time! And not doing it correct means disaster. Am I missing something?

  7. @ashanirpaneer For starters, trying the butterfly kick is a good one. Cause like, you get the feeling of the spin there, and just need to try to put your body even lower. Also, you would'nt start over on raw floor, have some mats below you, even if it's just slim ones they'll make the fall softer, for sure.

  11. two different moves, so it just depends on weather your comfortable with one or the other, i personally have really nice b-kicks, so i learned the b-twist first, and the only awk part is the twist, its going to feel weird, just to try to twist so early and twist right after you jump up/ off, take your time and think out the motions as you do it, overall, youre going to have to learn both either way, so why not learn both at the same time? :p

  13. If you know how to do a butterfly kick, try angling your body down and your legs up. It should look like and aerial once you jump hard enough with the last leg to leave the ground.
