Boxing Footwork Drills  – Esentials For Offense & Defense


If you have been practicing with me You got the basic stance foot movement and some easy kicks and punches But you need a delivery system Get in the pyramid on guard stance This is how you move back and forth Always hold the onguard stance as you move Always in position to punch and protect Step forward with the jab Or going back Practice going side to side Make a big + with duck tape on the floor You never want to square up to your opponent You’re trying to set them up for your punches Have an imaginary opponent If you ever lose to your imaginary opponent Hang it up there is no hope! You always win in this fight Practice the side to side movement Keep your guard up Put on some workout music – stay with the beat Forward, back, side, forward, back, side This is a workout in itself Now add bobbing and weaving Go slow in the beginning – you’ll get better if you practice slow at first Practice going from right to left Southpaw stance is the same as right hand stance Just reverse the stance – it’s the same on both sides Hang a rope in center about head high Bob and weave under of rope as you move forward Stance, as you slide step, slide step Slide step, slide step, slide step Forward, back, forward, back, forward, back Slide step, slide step, slide step Nothing to it – but makes a big difference in a fight Got that tape on the floor – back, forward, slide to slide, bobbing and weaving Have mirrors on all sides of the room Your favorite music with beats to your pace Just keep that easy rhythm Never want to stand still in a fight Footwork and angles sets up your offense and defense You’ll do it all If you if you work at it Hi, Amanda.
