A német boxer kutya fajta – DogCast TV S01E10
I am Gabriella Csia, the owner and founder of Sangreal German Boxer Kennel. I met with the Boxer breed when I was a teenager. When I first saw the breed, , I decided that this is The dog for me and once I will have one. In 2001 I managed to buy my first German Boxer dog. Since then I have fallen in love with them and I have had more and more Boxers. First I began to work with them and then we had our first litter. This was the point when my breeding career began and we founded the Sangreal Kennel.
The Boxer is a dog breed of German origin. They were bred from two ancient breeds: the old English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser (Bull biter). The German breeders tried to create a very active and sporty dog. The Boxer is part of the Molosser Group and defined as a Working Dog Breed. The primary target in the breeding program of the Boxers was that it should be a strong dog which can grab and hold large game untill the hunter gets to the scene. Later on it slowly became the main dog friend of children and young adults, as Boxers love to be with the young generation They are active, so they can play together and they guard the children at the same time. They can do almost everything with the youth, even sports activities. Besides this, the boxer is a guard dog breed and it is very important for them to protecct the family and the household. Boxers usually cling to their family and suspicious with strangers. If the owner is present, they can accept strangers, but sometimes they do not let strangers leave the territory. The German Boxer is a real, strong character. I suggest that those people should buy Boxers who live active lives. Who like challenges, as the Boxer is an ethernel child from their puppy hood to their late years. They are active on a 100% level and they relax on a 100% level If you have a Boxer, you will never get bored, no matter you are in a good, or a bad mood. They always come yo you, they have to take part in everything you do, they can not be left out of anything. Only those persons should buy them who can live together with this character of the dog. Of course it can be a disadvantage and an advantage at the same time, as they are an above the average human centered breed. Although they like to watch TV with you as well, you have to work with your dog as they are a very muscular and middle sized breed around 30 kgs (65 pounds). You have to have the experience, or learn it in dog schools, to control them and their instincts. It is the best if the owner is a strong personality with character. Besides an owner like this, they are wonderful friends and companion, even with children, no matter whether they are a male, or a bitch. With Boxers you have to be very consistent and you have to teach your dog what not to do in a human society. I usually say to the owners who buy Boxers from us that it is very useful to socialize their dog in an early age and take them to dog school as soon as possible. If you do this, with this breed you will have no problems at all in the oncoming decade or so. The Germafn Boxer is able to do almost all types of sport activities from running near your bicycle to jogging together with you. 5-6 kilometers is not a problem for them at all. In Germany there is an endurance test for the boxers: they have to run with you 20 km near your bicycle. You can breed Boxers in Germany only if your dog completed this endurance test. The Boxer is a middle sized, strongly built dog. They can be neither too light, nor too heavy They are very muscular and have plastic muscles. They are very fast and they have explosive movement. They are bred in two accepted colors: in fawn and brindle. White Boxers also born sometimes, but this color is excluded from breeding. It is important that white markings should not cover more than 30% of their coat. They should have black masks as this gives the main character of the dog. The head is the most distinctive feature of the Boxer, which should not be too light. The head should be wrinkle free with big, dark eyes, which should express kindness and intelligence. The head and the look of the Boxer should be noble. It is very important that the Boxer’s lower jaw should protrude beyond the upper jaw and bend slightly upwards in what is commonly called an underbite. It was bred so that the Boxers can bite and hold the game for a long time and could breathe meanwhile. They are short haired, which means that they cannot stand neither hot, nor cold weather very well. They should not be very active if the temperature is above 25 Celsius and they should not be left outside is cold weather. If you plan to buy a Boxer, you have to know about the sad fact that Boxers is not a breed with a long life. Unfortunately, the average life span of Boxers is 8-10 years. In average, in the majority of their life they live a helthy life, but in the last year there can be different illnesses. This is why you have to take care of their health. As I told, they should not be kept in a very hot, or very cold surroundings As their coat is short, it is very easy to spot in time any fur, or skin problems. If you clean, or brush them, all times you have to check whether everything is alright, as Boxers are inclined to have skin tumors. There can be problems with their heart and this is the reason why it is extremely important to buy a boxer from a breeder who screen their dogs. Sometimes dysplasia can happen and the Boxers are inclined to allergies, mainly for chicken and dry food containing soy. To breeding Boxers two screenings are compulsory: the screening od dysplasia and heart. As they are a breed with big eyes, you have to remove tears and phlegm from their eyes. The Boxers have strong and big teeth, it is important to keep them clean. I usually check their ears as well as there can be ear infections. Because of having and breeding Boxers, we have had a lot of friends. We take part in a lot of shows all around Europe and travel a lot. The Boxer owners are like their dogs, they are very friendly and kind people. We have a lot of funny stories about getting to shows, we usually have fun and laugh a lot. Of course on our way we usually talk about dogs, everybody share their opinion, sometimes we agree and of course, sometimes not. It is very important that Boxer breeders can work together well and can agree on a lot of things.
